Fundamental Pistol Skills

Course Description: This is an intermediate-level class that covers the fundamentals of defensive and combat pistol use as they relate to the civilian defender. Skills will be taught, ingrained through dry & live fire repetitions, and pressure tested. Each student will have the opportunity to assess their skills by shooting the OPOTA Pistol Qualification. Material covered includes, but is not limited to:
  • Safety Brief
  • Tourniquet Application
  • Everyday Carry Equipment
  • Combat Mindset
  • Resolute Response Marksmanship Doctrine
  • Moving with a Pistol
  • Drawstroke
  • Reloads
  • Identifying & Clearing Stoppages
  • OPOTA Pistol Qualification

Equipment Requirements: 
  • Willingness to learn
  • Note-taking gear
  • Food & fluids (soft drinks & coffee are available on-site)
  • Eye & ear protection
  • Semi-automatic handgun (loaners are available for a reasonable fee)
  • At least 300 rounds of ammunition for your handgun
  • At least 3 magazines for double-stack pistols, at least 4 magazines for single-stack pistols
  • Attendees are strongly encouraged to run their concealed carry holsters (or duty holster if you're Mil/LEO) as long as they meet the following criteria: Strong-side, belt-mounted holster molded to fit your specific make/model of pistol. Must cover trigger guard. Loaners are available for some pistols. If you have questions about your holster's suitability, ask. If you need a suitable holster I recommend C&G HolstersDark Star Gear, or Blade-Tech.

Prerequisite: NRA First Steps, NRA Basic Pistol, USCCA Basic Handgun, Concealed Carry Class, mil/LE firearms training, or equivalent experience.  

Cost: $150. A $25 non-refundable deposit is required upon registration. The remainder is due at the opening of the class.
